South Korean Students Visit
Adrian Public Schools
Adrian Public Schools was fortunate to have nine students
from South Korea participate in a cultural exchange
program. The American Experience Winter Program is an
exciting cultural education program designed to
introduce American culture to students from other
countries. The students experienced what it is like to
live in an American home, experience American Schools
and have the opportunity to develop their language
skills in ESL classes. The cultural exchange program is
completely funded by the Miller Foundation for
International Cultural Education. |

The Miller Center approached principal Mike Perez about
the possibilities of Korean students coming to Adrian
Middle Schools. The nine Korean students attended school
January 10th through February 6th and stayed with
several host families in Adrian, Brooklyn and Onsted.
Each student had an “American Buddy” that they
teamed up with and assisted them throughout the day. On
the weekends, the Miller Foundation sponsored fieldtrips
for the Korean students to a Whalers Hockey game, Henry
Ford Museum and Niagra Falls. Overall, the students
enjoyed the American schools. Some of their favorite
things included attending the Whaler’s Hockey game and
seeing snow but did not like the fast food
restaurants. |
